Octihoop Kit - 3 frames, 2 handles, DVD & Stabiliser
The Octihoops are an American made product designed and produced by Clare Rowley. We import and distribute these hoops to customers within the UK.
About The Octihoops
The hoops are designed so that anyone can embroider anything on any machine.**
Clare has produced a range of promotional, educational videos that can be seen on YouTube. Please click on

I don’t have an embroidery machine can I use the
Octi-Hoops?
Yes! Even if all you own is a Treadle sewing machine. With these hoops, you will not have to stretch your fabrics between 2 rings. You don't need to learn software, because there is no software required. You can take an image from a colouring book, clipart or a photo and embroider it on anything from baby socks to dog collars.
One of the amazing features of this hoop is how well it controls the fabric so you don't need a foot at all for just about every fabric.
If you've done Free-Form/-Free-Motion Embroidery before, you know that your hands become sore, not with the Octi-Hoops! Your hands won't hurt, your eyes won't burn and you'll feel as though you've taken a holiday as you will want to stay at your machine for days!
How do they work?
The three different sized hoops all come in the one package and are designed and engineered for adhesive stabilizer. The stabilizer is stuck onto the back of the specially designed hoop and the fabric simply adhered to the exposed stabiliser, securing it within the hoop.
One of the features of these hoops, is that you use specially designed handles to steer the hoop (see the image below). These handles force you to hold your hands in a relaxed ergonomically correct position so you sit straight (eliminating back aches) and your hands are forced to be in the best position possible so you don't have risk of injury to your hands or wrists.
Complete with Instructional, Educaitonal DVD
At Barnyarns we firmly believe in providing good educational material. This DVD produced by Clare, will guide you through the learning process and open up a world of creativity. You will be taught the basics of machine embroidery, how to stabilize difficult fabrics and to use these amazing hoops for mending garments that you probably were unable to repair before.
If you have a shirt that is stained, and it fits you perfectly, but you are embarrassed to wear it in public, you will be shown how to salvage it and love it even more!
How to Quilt with the Octihoops
1) Lay your Quilt Sandwich beneath the sewing machine needle where you want to begin quilting.
2) Slide one of the 2 larger frames under the quilt (the bottom layer of the quilt is now lifted (floating) over the machine's feed dogs and throat plate area. You will NEVER have puckers on the back again!!!! NEVER!!! :) (If you can't drop your machine's feed dogs you can still use these hoops, simply set your stitch length on 0 and you will be shocked that they don't cause any problems)
3) Place the next frame down (in size) on top and inside the bottom frame (( NOTE THERE IS NO STABILIZER ON THE QUILT)) and that is all that is needed to hold the quilt in place.
4) Remove your machine's foot and snap on assembly. REMOVE THE FOOT! NO FOOT IS USED! NO FOOT=NO PUCKERS ON TOP OF QULT. :)
5) Pick up one of the 2 green handles that came with your kit and pretend to write your name with it. Use left or right hand. (You will move the quilt using this small handle and write on the quilt with the needle... but your mind will think you're writing )
6) Place one of the 2 handles in any one of the 8 holes located on top of the smaller frame and after pulling the bobbin thread up through the quilt and stitching to tie a knot - cut your thread tails and begin sewing! Steering using the handle.. and talk to yourself, tell yourself you're writing on a piece of paper not quilting... your mind will release at some point and quilting will become nothing more than doodling on a piece of paper.
Clares Educational DVD (Included)
**Octihoops are not intended for embroidery machines that do not sew and not designed to mount onto an embroidery unit. If you have an embroidery machine that also sews, you can use these hoops as long as the embroidery function is disabled or not attached. The Octihoops will not work on embroidery only machines.
