A hand thread in some cases may also work through the machine to give a unique textured finish or can be couched down onto a machined piece of work for example, so the guides should be used as a basic recommendation only.

Many designers and all those with creative minds often use the threads in a way that we are unable to list. Do experiment with them to get the feel of how they will work for you.
