King Tut is a premium 40wt 100% cotton thread, made from the very best extra-long staple Egyptian cotton, the “pick of the crop”. Only a small percentage of the cotton harvest qualifies as extra-long staple, meaning the fibres are around 10% longer than standard cotton. The result is greater strength, smoother stitching and noticeably better quality.
King Tut is specially twisted to produce a smooth, low-lint thread with excellent stitch definition, making it ideal for both domestic and longarm quilting, as well as embroidery. Its vibrant solid and multicolour shades add real depth to stitched designs.
A standout feature of King Tut multicolours is the short colour change interval of approximately 3.5cm (1.5"), compared with many other brands that change colour every 13–30cm. This creates a far more blended, balanced look and avoids long, blocky colour sections.
